Today's SuperDace story

Driving home today, Dace calls out from the backseat:

"Mom, I want to tell you a SuperDace story.....Once upon a time, Super Dace and Wonder Zade were in the forest and they put their blankets over the branches...and there was a worm.  Super Dace scooped him up and took him home and cut him up like this and then....he COOKED HIM UP!....the end."

Halfway to Birthday Cake!

oh my gosh!  we made it.  the twins are 6 months old today!!
Please appreciate this picture...

it's not the greatest but better than these options.  these 2 were really not in the mood for photos.  Some of the best of the outtakes:
Just say no to the paparrazzi!

Hey look!  Zade left a fruit snack...

Take a backseat, brother.  The spotlight is mine!

Okay!  The spotlight scares me so you can have it.

Doesn't he look cozy

If this was my only child, I so would have snuggled up beside him and had a nap.  I desperately wanted to but alas, 3 others were awake.  Ammon is such a sweet little baby.

The Annual Green Dinner

I remember having a St.Patricks Day supper when I was a little girl.  I'm sure we had more than one but I remember one with green mashed potatoes and green milk.  I thought it was the coolest thing ever.  So I wanted to add a few green things to our tradition of corned beef brisket and cabbage.

drinks were sorbet and ginger ale- i called it grinch soda for Dace.  He liked that.  corned beef, cabbage, carrots and mashed potatoes with pureed peas.  I was making a batch of baby food and used leftovers instead of food coloring.  It was a great flavor.

Silly straws are all the rage as of late around here.

Ammon loves pureed peas.

Miss wasn't really too impressed.

Dessert was thin mint triffles.

They were a hit.
This is Zade saying "Hiiiiiiiii!"
Borrowed another bumbo today.  Both are doing so well sitting up.

Necessity is the mother (father?) of invention

These are my confessions:
My house is a disaster.  DEE ZAS TER!!!!

I have 6 loads of laundry piled strategically throughout the house that need to be folded.  For them to get folded and put away on the same day, let alone same week, would be nothing short of a miracle.

The kitchen floor is ....well...holy hell disgusting.  (pardon my french, by seriously, it really is)

There are dirty dishes in the sink, on the counter and in the dishwasher.

It has been several weeks since I cleaned the master bathroom.

My fridge is empty and desperately needs to be scrubbed out.  Needless to say, I need to grocery shop.

Our extra freezer in the garage was discovered one afternoon to be thawing out.  After rescuing most of the food, Dallin fixed it and turned it back on.  I still need to dethaw it and clean it out because all the shelves are iced over and some things are frozen into the shelf.

There are paw prints on the mirrors, the windows and the tv screen.

I have been on the brink of anxiety attack for the last couple days.  Last night Dallin took over and I went for a bike ride.  It was awesome to just vent my frustrations into my pedals.  I did the same thing again tonight.

It's been a busy week for me with Mary Kay.  Dallin has had the evening shift 4 times by this Sunday.  I told him last night when I came home that I think he is a better father than I am mother because he is always calm and seems to deal with the stress so much better than I do.  He begged to differ but I didn't really agree.

Some people say "I don't know how you do it."  I usually respond that I don't.  I feel like I don't do it, can't handle it and come up short most days.  I admit I have the odd day where I have the energy I need and feel great and nap times are smooth and everyone is in a good mood but those have been rare as of late.  Insomnia has been kicking my butt.  But I often wonder how HE does it.  I think Dallin could be a better stay at home mom better than me any day of the week.  He can manage bedtime with all 4 as well as dinner time whereas I am usually a stressed out spaz during both.  So how does he do it?

I came home from my bike ride tonight to find this scene in front of me.  Now I know.  Necessity really is the father of all invention.  Love you, D!

Touch O' The Irish...(and Scottish)

The babies wore green today since St. Patty's is this Saturday.  Normally I wouldn't care too much about this holiday but I got this cute little dress from a friend and thought I'd get the boys in some green too.  Zade wore his kilt.  I love him in his kilt!  It makes me reminiscent of my childhood and for my grandpa who was an amazing bagpipes player.  Needless to say, Zade steals the show and is the center of attention at church because, well, he's a little boy in a kilt.  How often do you see that?!  And he owns it, let me tell you.  It's great.

Dace didn't want to wear green.  But he wanted in the pictures anyway.

I love how Miss always has this startled expression in photos, like- "What are we doing?!  what's going on?!"too funny.

the latest scoop

We have started potty training Zade.  Or rather, he is potty training himself.  He is so independent and headstrong, I really don't have the patience or energy to force him to do it my way.  So whenever he tells me by grunting and tapping his crotch, I let him sit on the potty.  He pees every time.  He then gets a sticker for his chart and a couple m&ms.  It might take longer than Dace but its the best we can do at the moment.

He has also started to say new words.  At his peds checkup a few weeks ago, the dr (a sub, not our usual) was concerned about him being behind in speaking.  Perhaps we should check his hearing, she thought.  I knew there was nothing wrong with his hearing other than already being selective and my parents say I never spoke til I was almost 3 and Dace took a while to start talking too.

the day before his hearing exam, he says hi.  then ham.  Then honey.  We've been working on cup and bye.  Of course, his hearing is perfect and he continues to try new sounds and little words.

Dace is in love with Primary.  He asks all week long when its time to go back to church.  He is so excited about that it has also gotten him excited about starting school next year....I can't believe I just wrote that....wow. moving on before I have a break down and soap box about where the time has gone.

the twins are on such a great schedule. I LOVE it.  for example, it is 735pm and all 4 babies are in bed and asleep.  awesome.  Nev has been practicing her vocal scales and Ammon his falsetto, both at loudest volume possible.  It's like Donnie and Marie, the next generation over here or something.  They also love their bouncer and Ammon is all about eating solids.  Nev, after many weeks of persistence, finally figured out yesterday how to put her whole fist in her mouth.  It wasn't very cute or lady like but she was content.  Both babies wake up so gleefully happy in the mornings and after naps.  they take 1 quick bottle at night and we are all usually back in bed within 15 minutes because they can chug back 6-8 ounces so quickly.  nobody's complaining.

As for me and Dallin, business is starting to boom and we are starting to feel somewhat normal again.  We've even had a few date nights over the last few weeks and a trip to the temple last week, which was wonderful.  Life is good.

Big Brother adoration

Nev and Dace are really starting to get tight.  He loves to hold her and make her smile and she in return is really starting to look up to him.  It melts my heart.  This clip is a little random but I love what I caught at the beginning.  It is Dace and Nev to a T.

Okay this one is pretty cute but silly too...
