The CHUNK

Zadek and I had our 6 week checkup and checkout at the birth center yesterday.
Guess how much my little chunk weighed in at?

He's storing most of it in his cheeks, chins and chest. Measure all those at a couple pounds each, plus the buddha belly.... oh and don't forget the hamhocks (aka thighs)

He's tipping the scale at 13 lbs, 12 oz!!!! He blew his older brother out of the water. Dace measured in at 12.6 at his 6 week checkup. But I love it! Fat babies are healthy babies.
PS- Zade is starting to smile and giggle and coo alot these days. I took these after lunch and before his nap so he was in chill mode. But he really is a happy, content baby. I promise. I think he looks kind of sad in these pics so I am anxious to capture a smile sometime soon.

what's been happening

Zade being a good little bubba and taking a longer nap so I can make dinner.

We bought Dace his first cap. He is in love. He wakes up and puts it on. This is how he came downstairs from his nap yesterday-ballcap, tshirt, diaper and dragging Snugglie.

Zade checking out big brother.

Zade's first trip to the beach. As soon as he heard the waves, he was out.

Dace thought the water was too cold.

But he got over that in about 10 seconds.

A Little Comparison

Everyone is saying that Zade is just a dark-haired Dace, a cookie cutter baby. I don't know. I see some similarities, obviously, but they don't look identical to me. What do you think?

DACE

ZADE

One of the few things that I don't like about this stage of babyhood is how sad he looks most of the time. He was laughing and giggling at something today but of course that was when the camera was not out. He studies everything so deeply and carefully and looks so serious all the time. It'll be nice when he actually looks happy and pleasant in pictures.

Already?!

Zade is 1 month today. Where on earth did those 4 weeks go? Time sure flies when you're sitting on a couch nursing for a month. At least that's what it feels like I did- that and only that. But a schedule is being worked on as we speak so hopefully month 2 will be a bit more productive.

What can I tell you about Zade and Dace? Well, first off, Zade was up to 9lbs 5 oz at 11 days old. The guy must have been a competitive eater in a former life because he sure can pack away the groceries. We think he is close to, if not, past 11 pounds already. We have our 6 week checkup on the 30th so we will see then. Dace was already 12 lbs at his 6 weeks and I wouldn't be surprised if Zade surpasses his record. Zade loves to laugh and smile in his sleep and we are beginning to get a few of them while awake as well. He looks at you and listens intently when you talk to him. His denim blue eyes are getting darker and clearer everyday and his baby acne was only a mild flareup. It popped up last week and is pretty much gone which is great.

Dace has had a few hard days adapting to no longer being the center of attention and our world but he loves his little brother! He holds him with pride and joy and loves giving him gentle kisses on the head. He's only given him one swat across the head and when I explained that it hurt Zade and made him cry, Dace's face crumbled and he started to cry too. But all in all, I think it is going pretty well getting the two of them acquainted.

I call this picture "20 lb turkey in the sink". The first time I bathed him in here I was amazed at how he hardly fit- and that was around 2 weeks! We finally got a photo last night. The poor guy was so squished in there but boy he sure loves the water! Yup, he's our chomba womba baby! Look at those cheeks and count all those chins!

One Happy Mama

The title explains it all. Imagine a long, happy, drawn out sigh from me at the end of this clip. Yeah, it's been a rough couple of days.

Just a few

I have been such a slacker on here! I think this is the longest I have ever gone in between posts. Here are just a few pics to tide you over. Zade is 1 month this week. I will give a bit of a report then.
