Curls and fluff

I was bored the other day. Dace and I were sitting together on the couch. He was playing with a toy and I was running my fingers through his hair. He loves a good scalp massage. I was amazed at how thick his hair is getting. I think he gets his hair genes from me. It looks thin and then you get into it and it just keeps going! It's deceitfully thick and luscious. Can hair be luscious?
Anyway, I took him upstairs, wet it, put a tiny bit of gel in it and then a teeny bit of hairspray. These pics are the result and they still don't do him much justice. I've been wanting to cut his hair for a while now but since it is starting to curl, we want to see what it does over the summer.

Nod Ya Head

He is nodding for everything now. He'll see what he wants and will nod quickly before I can even ask the question. He seems sort of japanese when he does it. I can hear him saying, Hai! as he sharply bows his head. Oh he is so much fun!

misc

The other missionary onesie. I slicked his hair for church so you could get the full effect.
He's running fast now. It's tough to catch him.

This little guy was on our patio door during a thunderstorm. Dace would've loved him but he had been in bed for hours when I discovered Kermit here.

This is what a manuscript looks like

I could tell you the long version of how this all came to be but i will save it til later. For now, let me just say that I had a story and really wanted to write it. I set a goal to get it done in three months and I finished yesterday, 6 days before my goal date. It is 260 printed pages and hovering around 80,000 words. I started editing this morning and have a few areas I need to expand on but it won't get much bigger than this. The next step is sending out my query letters and finding an agent and then selling it. I love the story, I love the characters and it has gotten rave reviews from both Dallin and Lisa. I'm really excited to see what is going to happen with it. The movie will be amazing. I'm not leaking any details but trust Dallin when he says "chicks are gonna eat this stuff up." My next goal is to sell it by the end of summer. Did you know Stephanie Meyer went from writing the first word of Twilight to selling it for $750K all in six months? That is my inspiration. Don't tell me it can't be done. Allow me to demonstrate.

New Trick

I vaguely remember when I was little that I loved this position too. I would stand like this with my head cocked to the side and watch tv. I'd wear my black tracksuit that i called my spidersuit. hmmmm, the intrigues of inheritance. anyway, it's not the most flattering photo for someone with such juicy thighs (we call 'em hamhocks) but Dace wears his baby fat proudly, without a care in the world. The mosquitoes find him tasty. Note the red bugbite.
He did this again this morning with a pensive look on his face like he was seriously contemplating pushing over into a summersault.

On the Beach - by Lisa Staff

I was going to post these on the side but then they are too small to give them justice. Lisa took these a few months ago. I love them so much. These are my top two, just to give you a sample of her brilliant talent.

Mornings with Dace

Dace likes to hang around dad in the morning til he leaves for work.
He looked so cute this morning in his PJs I thought i'd use it as a post.

A random picture from last week during nap time. He sleeps in weird positions. I was like that as a kid too.

He likes Clifford. He's a fan of any big puppy, actually.

Personally, I like the baggy pants look on him.

His favorite snack right now- Ritz.

Check out that Buddha! Full of milk and cheerios and banana and fruit cocktail and croissant and juice and cracker. Sleeping 10 hours straight really builds an appetite. (if you look closely, you can see that even his belly button is sticking out)

Failure? No, it's Artsy

Remember that one scene in the first Matrix movie where Neo has a nice, long nap and they insert disk after disk into his brain and - Poof!- he wakes up being a master in the subject? Oh how I yearn for such a nap. But I would be so dang excited for my newfound knowledge that I wouldn't be able to sleep. So, what would I request if I had a nap like that? Hmmm. I can hear it now. After every disk was complete, it would pop out of my brain like toast with a little ding like a toaster oven and say, "Congratulations, you can now sing like Celine Dion." Ding! "You are now fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, and Korean. Ding! "You are now equipped to kill with your bare hands." (How brave and fearless would you be if you had that kind of skill?!?!?) Ding! You are now a master seamstress. Ding! You are now a pro-star expert of Photoshop. Ding! Congratulations, you now know everything you need to be a professional photographer.

And that is where this rant is coming from. I am starting to think my camera is smarter than me. It knows the shot I want but it laughs evily (is that a word, Carol? And is it spelled correctly?) and says, Mwahahaha! You will never get me to create that! Maybe I need to dumb down to something of an amateur/intermediate level. I don't know. At any rate, I took it out today to fiddle around and I really need to learn about lighting and shutter speed. Can't seem to figure it out. But alas, I will not give up. I have a goal to be good at everything. That's what I want to do with my life and I really think it's possible. Just keep on trunkin'. And be aggressive! Be, be aggressive! And stay positive. And so when I look at this picture I think- Failure? No, it's artsy. Massively over-exposed and out of focus, but it's still an artsy photo of a cute bubba.
