Perfect at a month

It's been a big week for Dace. On Wednesday, he had his first playdate with Xavier Martinez. X's mom, Emily, and I were in the same prenatal class together at the center and he was due a day after Dace. X ended up being born 3 days after Dace. Dace slept most of the afternoon and X cried alot but they both chilled out on the way home from the beach.

Dace had his one month birthday on Sunday. I can't believe it has been a month already. Dallin weighed him in around 11 lbs this morning. He is getting so big but still seems so small. His cheeks are definitely filling out from his milkshake diet and his chins are multiplying rapidly but he is still just so cute!!!! He has been a hand talker since he was born and loves to flip up that middle finger. He did it during nap time the other day and so we captured the moment. I can see that coming back to haunt him in his wedding slideshow one day, haha!
He also rolled over on Friday. He was on his tummy and all of a sudden, flipped onto his back. I'm sure it was a fluke as he isn't supposed to be able to do that for another month or two. But you never know. Dallin thinks he'll be walking at three months. Dace continues to be wonderful and a blessing to our lives.

The Dancing Baby

Dace stayed up a bit later than usual last night and watched "America's Got Talent" with us. During one of the acts, Dallin got Dace dancing. It was so hilarious we had to do it again and record it. I apologize for my laughing on the tape. I tried to control myself but couldn't. Seeing his little body move like that and the expression on his face was just priceless. Enjoy!

Tired Little Tike

Dace's sleep pattern has been off that last few days. He still sleeps great through the night and always goes back to bed after breakfast but has decided he wants to be up all afternoon and into the evening. Saturday Dallin decided to take him for a walk in his new baby sling while I got dinner ready. The destination, of course, was the beach- about a 5-10 minute walk. Well little Dace just couldn't handle the comfort of the ride and was zonked before even getting to the ocean. Dallin certainly has a way of getting him to sleep, even when mama's milk won't pass him out.

Our little limp noodle

Just hanging out. Wake me when we get there....

Mommy and Me

The day after Dace was born, my face broke out in total red blotchiness. It was horrible! It climaxed earlier this week and I could barely recognize myself in the mirror. The joy of all those pregnancy hormones regulating themselves. Anyway, after much praying and avoiding sugar at all cost, my face is returning to normal- yay! So I wanted to get a good first picture of me and Dace, since I had been avoiding being in pictures because I looked so bad. Dallin took a few this morning and I think this is my favorite. I need to get a good close up of Dace's eyes because they are an amazingly powerful shade of blue. As you can see, I am loving life and loving this little man.

Smiles and Snuggles

Okay so this picture is blurry but I still love it! Dace was taking his time in between feedings a few nights ago and decided to just hang out and stare at his mom and dad. We were asking for smiles and he delivered. This is just one of many we got that night, unfortunately we were zoomed in too far to get a clear shot but it is still adorable in its own right.

When Dallin isn't working, he's hanging out with Dace. It is so cute to watch them interact. The little cutie sure loves to smile and share them with his papa.

All tuckered out and snuggled up with mama....

Dallin and I lovingly refer to this position as stinkbug. It started weeks before Dace was born, when he turned head down in the womb. You could tell he was all tucked in like this, ready to move on out with his bum up in the air just under my ribs. He was a week old in this photo. I don't know if he can still curl up like this since he has grown so much in the last 2 weeks. I'm glad we have this photo to capture it.

This picture is so precious to me. It says so much that there is no need to add words...

Dace at 1, 2, 3 weeks

What a cutie! One week old. Such a little man

Two weeks

A day short of three weeks. It's a little blurry but had to capture his first gap ad- baby acne and all. Hey Auntie Noonie, this one's for you!

First Posting!

Well I am finally going to get this up and running. Being the overly organized person that I am, I wanted to wait til I had our birthing pictures back to post them first but that could be another week or two. So we will start from here:

DACE DALLIN DEAN

Dace was born at 2:42am, Thursday, May 29 at the Birth Center, in Rincon, Georgia. He weighed 8 lbs, 9 ounces and measured in at 21 inches. This picture was taken the next day. He had a beautiful water birth delivery, which I think contributed to the lack of swelling and redness on his face. Plus it was a lot more relaxing for me. The birth story I will share later when posting the pics. Dace is French in origin, and means "Born of noble birthright." I have always wanted my kids' names to be unique and strong and with a good meaning that they could live up to. Dace is a perfect choice for our firstborn. Here are a few more pics from the last three weeks:

His first car ride! Coming home from the center. He looked so teeny in his car seat.

Everyone said 8.9 was a big baby but he seemed so little and fragile to me. Definitely a little snuggler. He had mild jaundice but it only lasted a couple days. I love his little button nose. I still remember the first time I saw it on the ultrasound at 20 weeks-that was when I first fell in love with it. Now I kiss it every day.

The two 3D's.

Let's get this party started!

During tummy time the day before his 3 weeks mark, Dace was kicking like crazy trying to move across the blanket. I had to get it on tape. I think he's going to be an early bloomer- I just hope it's not next week! ;)
