Starting to Crawl!?!?!?!?!

Ummmmmm...he's a little young for this, isn't he? I'm behind on my "what to expect" reading but from what I can tell, Zade is a little early for crawling at 5 1/2 months. Two days ago during tummy time, he tried bringing his knees in to push off of. Then yesterday he got his tummy off the ground and then today he is coordinating the two. He will be in full crawl mode by my birthday, I suspect. It is fascinating for me to sit and watch him figure it all out. He must have some very important work to do in this life because he is in such a hurry to get moving and grow up.

Running Sumo Baby

Let's just state the obvious, shall we? Zade is HUGE! I call him my chunk or my chunka chunk. He and Dace went for checkups last week and Zade weighs in at 20 lbs, 3 oz, 26 1/4 inches long- basically the size of a 1 year old. He's in the 95% percentile for weight, no surprise there. Everyone always comments on how much he kicks. What you see in the video is what he does all day long. Even when he's being held, the legs are going. I would hate to see what he'd look like if he didn't move this much. He'd be obese! He is the happiest, sweetest little baby boy ever. He loves to sing, especially in the stairwell so he can hear his echo. He loves making Dace laugh and playing cars with him. He is loving eating solids and chewing on anything that comes close enough to his mouth to bite into. He adores bathtime and creates a tsunami every night because the kicking does not stop just because he's in water. He's soft and squishy and plump and has the softest little cheekers that I can't kiss enough. Happy 5 months, Zade.

Dace is a juice addict. Like an adult who needs coffee, he doesn't really function in the morning until he has received his sippy cup of OJ or AJ. Notice how he defends his sippy from Zade's curious little paw....

First Taste for Zade

Happy!

While I was bathing Zade last night, Dace came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and he smiled and said "happy!" It was so cute! I have no idea how he decides which words to try or what but I definitely needed that pick-me-up at the moment. He continued saying it proudly for the rest of the night. Pretty sure it's his new favorite.
