Adventures in Self-portraiture

Friday night, Dallin and I had our first overnight WITHOUT children.....in FOUR YEARS!!!!  Can we say, A little overdue?  um, yeah.

We had a great anniversary gift given to us for a one night at a 4Star resort here on the island.  I was told about it about a month ago and wanted to surprise Dallin.   So I told him I was planning our anniversary this year and to just be ready to leave at 5pm.  Our awesome sitter stayed the night with the kids and we were off for 19 hours of kid-free together time.  woohoo!  We went and got settled at the hotel then went for dinner, Hibachi grill and sushi at a Japanese restuarant.  So, so good!  It was Fabulous to sleep in and then wake up to silence.  And - Did you know if you watch Fox News without kids around you can actually hear what they are talking about?!  who knew?!  ;)  We walked on the beach in the morning, then went for lunch then headed home.  It was crazy how refreshed and rejuvenated we felt after that short of a break without kids.  We both agreed that we need that more often than every 4 years.  We are aiming for every 6 months from now on.

So a HUGE THANK YOU to the one who gave us this awesome gift!  We love you and are so grateful for the great time we had.   thank you, thank you, thank you!

six years and four kids.  I think we should probably look alot worse than we do so we must be doing something right.

Then tonight we had our first official FHE.  And it went surprisingly smooth and well.  The boys loved it and the twins had no idea what was going on.  But the wiggle dance activity that Dace led us in was a huge hit with them.

I wanted to capture our first FHE in a photo and that was ....interesting.  Observe -

Dace looks great in all of them.  Miss is trying to figure out what's going on.  Ammy is just trying to stay above water-in the end we lost him, lol.  Zayzay wants to be front and center.  Dallin is trying to stretch as far possible holding the camera while still giving a good smile and me - whoever said Sunday was a day of rest clearly was not a Mormon mother.  On the contrary, I think it is the most exhausting day of my week! I look haggard.  oh well!  Sundays are a great day for this family and worth it all.
